Students of the 4-5 years conducted a charity event on the topic "Responsible care of pets" at the Department of Internal Medicine, based in Regional Allergy Center.

The aim of the event was to involve young people in the public life of the city, increase their community commitment, and foster compassion and mercy for the weak, in particular for stray animals.

Such participation is intended to awaken humanity and compassion in people's hearts for animals in distress. The campaign also aims to raise funds to buy feeding-stuff, medicine and other necessities for keeping homeless animals in shelters.

Students were familiarized with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan regarding the treatment of animals. They were also informed about the existing shelters in the Karaganda region.

During the campaign the participants accompanied by the assistant research scientist of the department  Marina Rashidovna Izmailovich visited "Кошкин дом" (Koshkin dom) animal shelter, where more than 200 cats and dogs live there.

- These animals need society's attention and care as they will not be able to survive without it. Volunteers do a great job every day caring, feeding and treating their charges.  With our visit we supported the volunteers by bringing feeding-stuff and provided material assistance for the needs of the shelter. Indeed, we made the pets happy by playing with them, because they need positive emotions from interaction with people. It gives them strength and boosts their immunity, and helps sick animals to cope with diseases. Each of us can simply visit the shelter to take the pets for a walk or take one of them for foster care. These animals are waiting and are genuinely happy for people to come," the students shared.
