Residents of the Neonatology program, as part of the external academic mobility program, completed training from March 27 to April 3, 2026, at the Department of Hospital Pediatrics of Kazan State Medical University. The department is headed by Professor D. I. Sadykova. The responsible senior lecturer for neonatology is N. Kh. Gabitova, both of whom demonstrated a strong interest in international cooperation.

The department is based at the Children’s Republican Clinical Hospital and Perinatal Center No. 1 in Kazan (Republic of Tatarstan).

First-year neonatology resident S. N. Kenzhegaliyeva and second-year resident E. M. Vasilchenko completed their practical training at the Neonatal Pathology Unit (NPU) and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). These units provide tertiary medical care to newborns from across the republic.

Together with the Head of the NPU, F. M. Kazakova, and the Head of the NICU, M. A. Satrudinov, the residents participated in daily ward rounds, assigned checkups and treatment, and maintained medical documentation (treatment in these units is carried out in accordance with international clinical guidelines and protocols).

The clinics are equipped with all the necessary medical equipment to provide highly specialized care for newborns. Across the republic, all newborns undergo screening for 55 genetic diseases.

The time spent by our medical residents at these clinical sites provided an opportunity not only to advance their knowledge and practical skills but also to promote cultural and professional exchange between the medical communities of our countries.
