Tradition with history
It has already become a good tradition to combine trips to historical and geographical sights of our region with physical activities and wellbeing. During the public holidays from March 8 to 10, we set out with members of the local history club of the Department of History of Kazakhstan and SPD, students and teachers of KMU and enthusiasts of history and nature of Saryarka to the Karkaraly mountain forest oasis.
Despite the windy and crisp weather - constant blizzard and snow during our trips around the town we visited historical monuments: a monument to Kunanbai and Abai, the father and son, which was erected near the mosque built in 1851; a memorial - monument to the 78 communists who were killed by the Whites during the brutal civil war of the 1918-1921; a monument to Afghan war veterans from Karkaraly who carried out their international duty in 1979-1989 and other memorial sites.

According to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, we need to “draw the moral… not to assign blame…” in particular, regarding “the Soviet period of our history” we need to see in it “not only negative but also positive developments for Kazakhstan…”.
The following day we went on a ski tour - hiking to Sosnovy Bor. As always on such trips sports equipment - skis with ski boots of the right size were kindly provided to us by the Physical Health Center of the KMU led by L.V. Kovalenko. Snow-covered trees and snowflakes slowly falling created fabulous atmosphere. Fresh pine air remarkably encouraged our group, and we slowly moved along the ski track; a few hours of walking went too quickly and brought spiritual joy.
In the evening at the Guest House, we gathered for a club meeting. A student of the 1027 group TPM Abylai Tuleyev gave an interesting report. In his speech, he told us about the famous Master of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan, ballet-master Bulat Ayukhanov. Abylai worked under his leadership for several years before entering KMU. We saw photos and videos from various parts in which Abylai worked and learned a lot of interesting things about the profession of ballet soloist. We all rewarded the first-year student with a storm of applause for his interesting and insightful performance!
According to tradition a modest musical evening took place after the presentation. A student of the 1045 group of the School of Medicine, Aiymgul Baimurat performed various songs with a guitar. In this regard, we tried not to break an established tradition of our trips. The days of the trip to Karkaraly were eventful and full of hiking, ski trips, evening meetings and musical evenings!
See you at the next meetings and trips of the local history club!
