Sholpan Sabatayevna Kaliyeva has been elected as a member of the WHO TAG-AwaRe (Access, Watch, Reserve) Advisory Group.The Chairperson of the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Evidence Based Medicine at Karaganda Medical University has been included in the list of 28 world-renowned scientists who will provide independent evaluation and counselling to the WHO on strategic issues related to the use, control, and management of antimicrobial medicinal products, the implementation of WHO’s high-priority guideline documents for AWaRe, and the development, implementation, and evaluation of further performance and goals based on AWaRe
This recognition highlights Sholpan Sabatayevna's long-term contribution as a strong advocate on the antimicrobial resistance (AMR), being actively involved in key initiatives of the WHO for AMR monitoring in Kazakhstan. In 2022, in the context of cooperation with the WHO, she served as an independent expert on AMR policy assessment in the Republic of Kazakhstan. From 2015 to 2017, as the Chief Clinical Pharmacologist at the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan, she promoted strategic initiatives for the development of clinical pharmacology services and quality use of medicines. She was also a member of numerous expert committees and commissions at the Ministry focused on advancement of medical education and improving clinical practice.
Sholpan Sabatayevna is a member of the Joint Commission on the Quality of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the chief visiting clinical pharmacologist of the Department of Healthcare of Karaganda Region. She is a co-author of more than 30 national clinical protocols, including protocols for COVID-19. She has published 175 research papers, including 36 international articles and 4 textbooks. She has been awarded state awards for her contribution to the development of the national healthcare system.
