From October 15 to 20, 2023, Marina Rashidovna Izmailovich, Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, participated in the «Open Medical Institute» course and attended the 14th Salzburg Weill Cornell Seminar in Dermatology (Salzburg, Austria), which was attended by 35 international scholarship recipients from 24 countries.

«The Open Medical Institute» is a unique program that promotes the international exchange of medical knowledge with the participation of academic experts and fosters long-term friendships and collaborations among physicians from different cultures.

Dr. Richard D. Granstein, Professor George W. Hambrick Jr. from «Weill Cornell Medicine» and Dr. Georg Stary from the Medical University of Vienna, led the seminar. The renowned American and Austrian dermatologists presented a comprehensive program consisting of 26 lectures, covering topics such as skin functions, the interaction of the skin with the immune and nervous systems, autoimmune bullous diseases, modern diagnostic and treatment methods for drug allergies. Most importantly, the seminar provided the latest information on new approaches and methods for the prevention and treatment of both common and rare skin diseases. It is worth mentioning that the seminar also addressed the cutaneous manifestations of internal diseases and the adverse dermatologic effects of cancer chemotherapy and immunotherapy, as well as approaches to their treatment.

As part of the training, seminar participants gave presentations on clinical cases from their own practices. Assistant Professor Marina Rashidovna Izmailovich presented a clinical case on the topic: «Allergic Dermatitis as a Complication of Scabies».

In addition to their training, the scholarship recipients had the opportunity to immerse themselves in Austrian culture, including visits to Salzburg’s landmarks, museums, and a private chamber music concert at Arenberg Castle. The «Open Medical Institute» improves the quality of healthcare worldwide and contributes to the unity of global medicine.
