On December 1, 2025, as part of World AIDS Day, employees from the Department of Internal Medicine held a panel discussion for students on the topic of "HIV infection and myths surrounding it".

The event was moderated by Assistant Professor G.T. Abuova. She noted that HIV and AIDS continue to be relevant issues nowadays. HIV incidence has become rampant in recent years.
The panel discussion was attended by faculty members of the department, students from the groups 3-008, 3-012, 3-016 in Dentistry, and 3-033 in General Medicine.
The following reports were presented in state and Russian languages during the panel discussion:
* Professor L.Sh. Seksenova – «1 декабря – день борьбы со СПИД» ("December 1 - World AIDS Day");
* Assistant Professor G.T. Abuova – «Қарағанды облысындағы ЖИТС инфекциясы бойынша эпидемиологиялық жағдай» ("Epidemiological situation regarding HIV infection in the Karaganda region");
* Professor S.D. Nursultanova – «Стигма и дискриминация в отношении людей, живущих с ВИЧ» ("Stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV").
A quiz was held at the event: ‘HIV infection and AIDS,’ and videos were shown.

Following the meeting, participants unanimously agreed on the timing of World AIDS Day. It is important and critical to conduct public awareness efforts among the general public on the issues of HIV and discrimination against people living with this infection.
The event was a significant contribution by the department to the development of the culture of proper attitude towards HIV-infected people from society.
