Meeting of the Local History Сlub of the Department

The first in this term meeting of the local history club of the Department of History of Kazakhstan and SPD was held on February 21 this year.  There were two reports on the agenda. Student of the group 3028 of School of Medicine Nurlan Y. made a presentation on the topic of: “Jochi Khan and his legacy”. In a colorful presentation, in which pictures and excerpts from historical records were inserted, Yerulan narrated about the remarkable individual of the eldest son of the “conqueror of the universe” - Genghis Khan. The genealogy of Jochi, from whom the first Kazakh khans - Zhanibek and Kerey - descended, was shown. Myths and legends were told about Jochi, who as a military commander, received ulus (a tribe, clan, village or group under a given leader) from his father - lands to the west from Irtysh - steppes of Dasht-i Qipchaq, i.e. steppes of modern Northern, Central and Western Kazakhstan. A beautiful legend about the death of the mighty warrior and commander - Jochi on a hunting completed Yerulan's very lively and affective story; we also heard the famous kui “Aksak Kulan” dedicated to this tragic event, after which the speaker invited us to describe the images that were born in our imagination from the music of the dombra! 1-3 year students of different specialties who came to the meeting today, we - teachers of the department shared our impressions of the beautiful music, and, interestingly enough, the pictures described by us were similar: endless steppes, grass bending from the steppe wind, herds of horses, kulans running from hunters and anxiety in every note of the famous kui! The student's performance was received with applause! The assistant principal - N.F. Loman presented the student - a member of our club with a certificate for participation in the Student Research Society of the department.

The second report was prepared by the teacher of the foreign branch of our department, who has been participating in the work of our circle for a number of years - G.F. Galina. Her presentation with many pictures and video material, was dedicated to a trip to Dagestan. Galiya Fanilievna in a colorful and vivid form explained us about historical and geographical sights of this republic of the North Caucasus, which, according to her, has long been a “tourist heaven”. We learned about the centuries-old history of Dagestan and its people, saw mountain gorges and rushing rivers, old fortresses and towers that have seen many invasions of enemies and wars in the past centuries, visited the cities, “walked” through the streets, saw the colorful and unusual fountains in Makhachkala - the capital of this autonomous republic, which is a subject of the Russian Federation. The speaker answered many questions of the participants of the meeting, related to the daily culture, traditions and customs of the peoples of multinational Dagestan and advised to take a trip to this ancient and hospitable, according to her words, land! At the end of her report, Galiya Fanilievna treated everyone present at the meeting with fragrant tea brewed on mountain herbs of Dagestan, which she brought to Karaganda! The participants of the meeting rewarded such an original performance of our colleague with a storm of applause!

At the end of the meeting, the teachers of the department N.F. Loman, A.I. Ongarbayeva expressed their gratitude to the speakers for their thoughtful presentations, A.B. Dolgopolov briefly narrated about the trips across Kazakhstan of the members of our club in recent years and about travel plans for the coming year, and also invited all its participants to the next meetings and sessions!

See you in the next meetings of the local history club!
