Exactly 36 years ago, on December 16, 1989, by the Order of the Ministry of Health of the Kazakh SSR, Makash Tynyshtykpayevich Aliyakparov was appointed the rector of Karaganda State Medical Institute.
The name of Makash Tynyshtykpayevich Aliyakparov is well known in the medical, academic, and creative communities not only in Kazakhstan, but extends beyond the country. Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences, and Rector of Karaganda State Medical Institute (1989–2001), he combined the energy of a researcher, the ability of an artist, and the wisdom of a mentor. In the days at the management of the university, Makash Tynyshtykpayevich founded the first Medical-Biological Faculty in Kazakhstan, started a faculty for international students, and an oriental branch. At the same time, scholarly literature started to be published in the Kazakh language for the first time.

Makash Tynyshtykpayevich Aliyakparov went down in the history of national science and culture as a man whose dedication to knowledge and art, set an example for the entire generation.
His scientific legacy is impressive: more than 400 scientific works, 14 monographs, 12 certificates of authorship, and a school of students comprising six doctors and 13 candidates of science. It is his name that is associated with the establishment of the Kazakhstani school of radiology and diagnostic radiology.
However, behind his scientific precision always lay a subtle artistic sense. There were always contained an easel and paints in his office. Without special training, he managed to become a recognized painter and a member of the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan. Fine art experts note the unique “Aliyakparov” style of painting and his complete mastery of graphic pattern.

His canvases are not just paintings, they are the philosophy of the Kazakh steppe captured in color and light. They have been successfully exhibited in Italy, France, and Russia, captivating the audience with their depth of thought and spiritual resonance.
Shakarim's poetry and personality has a special place in his work. Aliyakparov does not illustrate the poet, he recreates his spiritual realm, making visible the meanings embedded in poetry. His works are a dialogue between time periods, a conversation between the artist's soul and the wisdom of ancestors.

On his initiative, the first private art gallery “Abay and Shakarim” was established, which collected his paintings, and International Public Foundation named after Shakarim was established. He is the author of six books on spiritual traditions and cultural heritage.
His monumental works have become part of the character of the country: Defenders of the Homeland (Astana), Steelworkers (Temirtau), Abay (Karaganda) — each of these monuments holds a piece of his soul.
Today, remaining true to science and art, Makash Tynyshtykbayevich continues to lead others by his example.
“What’s important is not just to heal the body, but to help people see the beauty of life,” he says.
His path is one of service to humanity, science, and beauty.
