On November 7, 2025, a scheduled meeting of the local history club was held: this time we decided to check how well the students know their hometown and the history of its formation! The idea of holding an intellectual game on the history and local lore of our region was suggested by the notorious historian of the Bolashaq Academy Aliya Ukuzhanovna Ilyassova. Aliya Ukuzhanovna conducted a local history quiz at the meeting of the club on the topic of "Do you know about Karaganda?" together with a student from "Bolashaq" Academy's IN - 21-1 group, Yeldar Vasiliyev, who performed kui on dombra on a historical theme and told us about the history of their creation. That way, in the meantime between the rounds of the game, "Ерке сылқым", "Адай" and other famous kuys sounded, which were greeted with a strom of applause.



During the quiz, participants of the meeting, 1st and 2nd year students, were divided into 2 teams, who received assignments on the history of our region and Karaganda. Aliya Ukuzhanovna and Yeldar showed us pictures of well known architectural structures of Karaganda on the screen, and we had to name them, as well as guess the date of certain events in the history of the city. As the game progressed, we learned a lot of interesting facts about history and local lore.
The winning team received prizes from the facilitator as a reward – everyone got a collector coin with the image of Abulkhair khan and a postcard with a view of Karaganda! The members of the other team also received postcards with a view of the streets and beautiful buildings of our city!
According to the participants of the meeting, we had a great time. It was fun, informative and inspiring — that's how we love to spend our club meetings! At the end of the meeting, we awarded our guests from the Bolashaq Academy with diplomas for their active participation in the student scientific society of the department.
