From November 1 to November 6, 2024, within the framework of Erasmus+ Program of the Project 101082831 - BERNICA - ERASMUS-EDU-2022-CBHE “Building Educational and Research Capacities in Nutrition and Dietetics in Central Asia” international days were held in medical universities of the Republic of Tajikistan (Avicenna Tajik State Medical University (Dushanbe), Khatlon State Medical University and representatives of Istanbul Medipol University. The Kazakhstani team consisted of 3 people under the supervision of the Republican Project Coordinator, Doctors of Medical Sciences, Professors Karlygash Toguzbayeva and Rabiga Kozhamkul. Karaganda Medical University was represented by Professor Bauyrzhan Omarkulov.

Within the framework of the international conference at the plenary session a presentation on sustainable diets was made by Professor Gulgun Ersoy from Istanbul Medipol University.

For faculty members, students and representatives of health care system in the Department of Ecology and Occupational Health of TSMU BERNICA international team conducted the training. Presentations were made by Professor Indrani Kalkan on “Interdisciplinary Training in Nutrition”, Rabiga Kozhamkul on “Achieving Sustainable Development Goals 3,5 and 17 through Central Asian Cooperation Network”, Nizom Ermatov on “International Experience in Nutrition System Development in Uzbekistan”.

On November 4-5, 2024 BERNICA international team visited Khatlon State Medical University. As part of the program the following reports were reviewed: Khusanzhhon Ergashev on “Nutrition in chronic stomach diseases”, Bakhriniso Isayeva on “Nutrition of schoolchildren”, Professor Indrani Kalkan on “Sustainable diets and other probiotics and health”. Professor B. Omarkulov also shared his experience of introducing BERNICA modules in the educational process of Karaganda Medical University.

The participants also visited the campuses of the University. The event concluded with a solemn ceremony of awarding certificates to the participants and discussing the implementation of the designed courses in their universities.
