Sports medicine is becoming an increasingly important part of both professional sports and public health. In Kazakhstan, the promotion of sports medicine has become particularly important in recent years following the development of the national sports medicine and rehabilitation system. The President of the country is keenly focused on this area, noting its importance and relevance. In recent years, the government has put an emphasis on training professionals who can not only provide rehabilitation but also comprehensively assess a person's physical well-being, master functional test technologies, and build tailored rehabilitation and prevention programs.
For the first time in Kazakhstan, with the participation of the Department of Physical Education and Sport of the Karaganda Region, foreign and national experts from the world of sport and science, public leaders of Kazakhstan, and deputies gathered to discuss the prospects for developing collaboration in sports and medicine at Karaganda University of Kazpotrebsoyuz.
Representing Karaganda Medical University, T.T. Kispayeva, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, and National Trainer in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan, delivered a report at the expanded meeting on “Sports Rehabilitation: From Prevention to Recovery.” The co-speaker was N.V. Slivkina, Doctor of Medical Sciences, senior lecturer, Head of the Department of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine at Astana Medical University. The report featured current capacities and methods for sports rehabilitation overseas and in the Republic of Kazakhstan, outlined prospects for the development of educational programs in medical rehabilitation at AMU (in the educational programs “Kinesitherapy” and “Ergotherapy”) and KMU (in the educational program “Nursing in Rehabilitation”), and outlined learning paths in physical medicine and rehabilitation at medical universities. Participants and guests of the event highly evaluated current achievements, initiating the possibility of further collaboration with medical universities.
The event featured workshops, one of which was conducted by B. Bataa, a master's student at the School of Nursing Education (academic adviser Professor T.T. Kispayeva) on the topic of "Advanced Methods and Means in Medical Rehabilitation." Participants replied enthusiastically expressing a desire to continue workshops in this area.
At the end of the international conference, the speakers expressed their gratitude and awarded appreciation letters. Professor T.T. Kispayeva received an appreciation letter from the Department of Physical Education and Sport of the Karaganda Region by Serik Sapiyev, Olympic champion and Head of the Department of Sports of the Karaganda Region.
