HIV Monitored Closely: What Everyone Should Know

On November 18, 2025, the instructors of the “Epidemiology” module from the School of Public Health, in cooperation with employees from Karaganda Regional Center for Prevention and Control of AIDS, namely epidemiologist I.A. Venchikova, conducted a training session on the topic of “HIV Monitored Closely: What Everyone Should Know.” Students from the groups 2-001, 2-002, and 4-002 of the “Public Health” educational program, including groups 3-013 and 3-014 of the “Pediatrics” program, took part in the event.
World AIDS Day serves as an annual reminder of the importance of having accurate and reliable information about HIV. Despite advancements in medicine and access to treatment, the issue of lack of awareness remains a significant challenge. Therefore, preventive services play a significant part in reducing the spread of HIV infection.
The training session was an active from of learning designed to develop professional competences, practical skills, and social attitude that contribute to HIV/AIDS prevention and control. The event focused on building new skills, addressing psychological and social challenges, and strengthening cooperation.



Training the session, the epidemiological situation regarding HIV infection in the Republic of Kazakhstan was discussed, the reasons of incidence rate, focal points of infection, modes and mechanisms of transmission, as well as key prevention practices were addressed. The participants were provided with a presentation, video recording was demonstrated, and interactive and role-playing exercises were held aimed at developing case analysis and rapid decision-making skills.
Students actively participated in discussions, asked questions, and received comprehensive answers. The spirit of the event was dynamic, informative, and encouraged active engagement. Participants were able to consolidate their existing knowledge and expand their understanding of HIV issues. For preventive purposes, information booklets, stationery, and memorable souvenirs were handed out to all attendees.
In summary, HIV prevention is based on simple yet effective efforts: using protection, avoiding risky behavior, and regular testing. Following these principles significantly reduces the risk of infection and stay healthy. A responsible attitude to oneself and loved ones remains the best way to prevent viral spreading.
