On November 19, as part of World COPD Day, an educational meeting “COPD School” was held at the Regional Clinical Hospital. The event was organized with the participation of L.K. Ibrayeva, Professor from the Department of Internal Medicine, Doctor of Medical Sciences, A.A. Nygymetova, Head of the Pulmonology Department, Clinical Mentor, and first-year residents specializing in “Pulmonology (adult and children’s).” During the event, patients were delivered a lecture on the main aspects of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: its causes, course, and principles of effective treatment. Particular attention was paid to rehabilitation-methods of restoring lung function and improving quality of life were discussed. Participants were also demonstrated the correct techniques for using inhalers and nebulizers, which is especially important for effective treatment. Special attention was given to disease prevention, with an explanatory talk of the dangers of smoking and its role in the development of COPD. At the end of the meeting, there was an open session for questions and feedback: L.K. Ibrayeva and A.A. Nygymetova answered all the questions that concerned patients, and gave recommendations, providing clear and accessible information to each participant.
