Appointment of the New Rector of Karaganda Medical University

   Karaganda, June 27, 2025 – In accordance with the protocol of the meeting of the Republican Commission for selecting the candidate for the position of Chairman of the Board – Rector of the University dated June 25, 2025, and the order of the Minister of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 37 dated June 26, 2025, Bakhyt Nurgaliyevna Kosherova has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board – Rector of “Karaganda Medical University” Non-Commercial Joint Stock Company effective from June 27, 2025.

Bakhyt Nurgaliyevna Kosherova is a Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, and a top-tier infectious disease doctor with over 35 years of experience in the healthcare system, including 30 years in medical education and more than 20 years in leadership positions.

She is the Chief Freelance Infectious Disease Specialist of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Chairman of the Committee on Clinical Protocols of the Joint Quality Commission of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Public Association "Society of Infectious Disease Physicians," and an international expert of IAAR.

Bakhyt Nurgaliyevna has initiated and successfully implemented a number of strategically important projects in medical education and healthcare throughout her professional career, including the establishment of Karaganda Medical University's Medical College, the Consultative and Diagnostic Center, and the University Clinic of the KMU NCJSC.

 During the COVID-19 pandemic, she supervised the setting up of a quarantine center, provisional and infectious illness hospitals at Karaganda Medical University.

Bakhyt Kosherova is the author of almost 160 academic papers, educational guides, and textbooks.

Her achievements have been recognized with state awards, including the Order of " ҚҰРМЕТ " badges such as "Honored Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan," "Y. Altynsarin," "Excellence in Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan," and medals "People's Gratitude," "International Sharmanov Medal," "20 Years of Kazakhstan Maslikhats," and others.
