Academic mobility at the “Astana Medical University” NpJSC

From May 12 to May 16, 2025, Mauza Maralovna Beisekova, Assistant Professor of the School of Public Health in the “Epidemiology” module, visited the Department of Public Health and Epidemiology of the “AMU” NpJSC as part of academic mobility.

During the implementation of the academic mobility program, M. M. Beisekova became acquainted with teaching and learning resources and teacher development, with the facilities and resources of the Department of Public Health and Epidemiology, with the resources of the library stock, visited the museum, and also conducted practical sessions with students of the 3rd year of the 6B10119 “Public Health” EP on current topics of the “Fundamentals of biological safety in medical and preventive treatment facilities” discipline.

In practical sessions, students learned about biological safety principles, biological protection during disinfection of microbiology lab facilities, activities involving pathogenic biological agents, laboratory biosafety control, dangerous groups of microorganisms, and sanitary and epidemiological requirements for laboratories and biosafety equipment. We learned how to ensure biological safety during disinfection and rat control measures, how to decontaminate and destroy medical waste of classes A, B, C, and D, how to provide biological safety in an emergency, and how to comply with biological safety requirements and measures in these areas.

            M.M. Beisekova gained knowledge on the history of the “AMU” NpJSC, as well as the library's resources. In general, the approved course schedule for the subject has been fully implemented.

To summarize, academic mobility contributes to the exchange of knowledge and skills between faculty members of both universities, which will be valuable in our students' education.
