Academic mobility at Akaki Tsereteli State University in Kutaisi, Georgia

As part of international academic collaboration, faculty members fr om Karaganda Medical University's Department of Infectious Diseases and Phthisiology, Associate Professor, Candidate of Medical Sciences Kh.G. Devdariani, and Assistant Professor A.E. Dyussembayeva, visited Akaki Tsereteli State University in Kutaisi, Georgia, in the framework of academic mobility from October 14, 2025, to October 27, 2025.
The visit began with an official meeting with the Rector of Akaki Tsereteli State University, Professor Shalva Kirtadze, during which the parties discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation.



Meetings were held with the program directors, and with Pkhakadze Irine, Professor from the Faculty of Medicine, Head of the English-speaking Department, director of the Medicine educational program, and faculty members, to share experience in education in teaching pediatric infectious diseases, as well as particularities and challenges of bachelor’s degree program and postgraduate education were also discussed.
According to the course schedule, lectures were delivered and practical sessions were conducted, including current issues in infectious disease management and control. Lectures were delivered in English and Georgian.



As part of this academic mobility program, meetings were held with the Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases and doctors at Kutaisi Church Hospital, wh ere they discussed the issues of infectious pathology worldwide, modern treatment guidelines, emerging infectious diseases, and antimicrobial resistance.
Additionally, they participated in a colorful Diwali festival organized by international students.
Following the meetings, lectures, and practical sessions, teachers, students and practitioners expressed positive feedback and suggestions to continue enhanced collaboration and exchange of experience, both in education and in practical healthcare, for strengthening of cooperation and creating future joint research initiatives in the area of infectious diseases.
